We have gathered positive, hopeful messages: stories, quotes, inspiration & art for those who either have cancer, Message of Hope, or for those who are offering support for someone with cancer, Messages of Cope.
Through these shared expressions on our web site, we wish to inspire & illuminate the path you are on: to live life to the fullest, meaningfully with courage, strength and determination.
Most of all, we want to inspire you to live a life of joy, gratitude, hope and well-being.
Alice's Vision
Alice Kitselman is the visionary behind the original and the newly reborn Dragonfly's Delights. Dragonfly's Delights is a non-profit venture, originally set up to benefit women just diagnosed with breast cancer.
After Alice was first diagnosed with breast cancer at the end of 2000, and survived the long ordeal, she wanted to give back to others. Dragonfly's Delights was first born to originally create beautiful baskets filled with gifts aimed at comforting, soothing, and delighting the woman who has just found out she has breast cancer. As time went by Alice felt the need to devote herself to her artwork full time and she closed Dragonfly's Delights for a short time.
In 2007 Alice was once again dealing with another round of cancer treatments that is still ongoing. In December 2007, Alice decided to rebirth Dragonfly's Delights with a new focus & mission: to provide Messages of Hope & Cope: stories, quotes, inspiration & art for those who either have cancer, Message of Hope, or for those who are offering support of someone with cancer, Messages of Cope.
Alice brings Dragonfly's Delights a true gift to all of those who are touched with cancer: Messages of Hope and Cope when dealing with the complications of living through cancer.
Alice is now back working in her art studio, creating paintings, mail art and digital art, while still undergoing treatment. Her paintings are featured on every page of Dragonfly's Delights web site. So Alice is busy creating and living with joy and gratitude.
Alice's success shows her courage to fight back and not just survive, but thrive!
The Awareness Ribbon
Awareness ribbons are short pieces of ribbon folded into a loop, or representations of such, which are used in the United States, Canada, Australia, UK and other parts of the world as a way for the wearer to make a subtle statement of support for a cause or issue.
The meaning behind the awareness ribbon depends on its color. Many groups have adopted ribbons as symbols of support or awareness, and as a result, many causes often share each color. Some causes may also be represented by more than one color. The ribbon expresses empathy; it is a symbol that represents awareness, and is a signal of concern for others.
The lavender ribbon is the symbol for all cancers.
